Heim timeline

Our History

Explore the Heim Company’s important milestones from 1931 to today.

Motors were invaluable at the time and it was more cost-effective to repair than replace when need arose. Edwin L. Heim started a small motor repair shop on Vernon Street in Harrisburg, PA.

Charles C. Bashore began working with the Heim Company after training as a wiring and motor technician while stationed in the military. He eventually succeeded Edwin L. Heim.

The Electrical Service Division started in the basement of the original motor shop building. The Heim Company later expanded into Electrical Construction.

Our second location, 1918 Greenwood Street, was designed and constructed by Heim personnel. The site’s electrical outfitting was state-of-the-art for the time.

GES Automation Technology joined forces with the Heim Company as its subsidiary, working together to deliver customers full-service solutions.

After several customer requests, we developed our Mechanical Construction and Service Divisions. Starting out with just five people, these teams grew to be an irreplaceable part of the Heim Company.

Over the years, we expanded our offerings to include speciality trades like telecommunications services, high-voltage systems and mechanical and electrical construction prefabrication.

We purchased our newest facility on Friendship Road in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This new space will allow all our divisions, including GES, to operate from a central location — a first in Heim’s nearly 100 years.
